Press release: MARILIA: the novel pathogen detection test for the detection of pathogens in water

The MARILIA partners start the second semester of project development.

Rome, March 2021.

MARILIA is a project funded by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 framework, under the EIC Transition to Innovation Activities program.

The MARILIA project is based on the results, technologies and concepts developed within the FET-Open project MARA.

THE GOALS

In MARILIA, we aim to develop a breakthrough pathogen detection assay for monitoring water safety that significantly increases the speed and assay performance, whilst reducing costs. Especially the number of pathogenic species that can be detected with a single test will be increased, making it possible to use only a single assay for water safety testing.

FAST MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING
We aim to develop a breakthrough pathogen detection assay for monitoring water safety that significantly increases the speed and assay performance.

COST-EFFECTIVENESS AND SIMPLICITY

Time saving, money saving, lower cost per test; no time-consuming sample and reagent preparation, multi-step test procedures, and tiresome clean-up.

ACCURACY: DNA-TAGGING OF PROTEINS

Quick, clean and accurate.

 A NEW VERSION OF ADENITA

Adenita is a software to facilitate the design of artificial enzymes and DNA  nanostructures. Adenita will be extended with features covering data handling, interactive modelling, and structures visualization.

THE PARTNERS

This two-year project comprises teams from Austria, Croatia and Italy:
