New publication available | Effect of N-glycosylation on horseradish peroxidase structural and dynamical properties

The new publication “Effect of N-glycosylation on horseradish peroxidase structural and dynamical properties” is available on Marilia website and Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal.

What is the paper about?

The Main goal of the Marilia project is the development of a quantitative method that enables the detection of even single cells. One of the enzymes that is a prospective candidate for the development of such a method is horseradish peroxidase (HRP).

In the paper, the influence of the glycosylation of HRP enzyme on its structural, dynamic and electrostatic properties, which consequently have an impact on its activity, was investigated using computational methods.

As shown in the video below, the discovery that the presence of glycan on the protein surface significantly alters the dynamic and electrostatic properties of the active site of the enzyme located at the center of the protein (propagated effect) is particularly interesting.
